Preventative Care
We offer a variety of preventative care packages.
Preventative Care
An ounce of prevention
Preventable disease is on the rise since 2006, there have been a 36% increase in canine diabetes and a 16% increase in feline diabetes. Heartworm disease, dental disease and the diseases associated with fleas and 蜱虫 are also increasing in prevalence.
Example: Getting ahead of feline kidney disease
Kidney disease is almost 7 times as common in cats as it is in dogs and is one of the leading causes of death in cats. Most cats diagnosed in the early stages of chronic kidney disease live 2-3 years. Cats diagnosed in later stages tend to live less than 6 months after diagnosis. A full 55% of cat owners don't realize their cat can have kidney disease without appearing ill.
Routine preventive care visits are the best way to stay on top of good health and to catch underlying illnesses as early as possible.
Because animals can't say when something is wrong, sick pets don't visit the veterinarian until their illness is well established and the pet is showing outward signs.
Canine 4DX test
This test detects Heartworm disease, Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichiosis. Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis & Ehrlichiosis are all tick-borne diseases that are frequently diagnosed in our area and can cause a variety of symptoms as well as lasting effects if not caught early.
Preventive care visits allow you to:
Preanesthetic testing
Early detection, early intervention, peace of mind
We recommend preanesthetic blood work anytime a pet is going under anesthesia. As our pets reach 5 years of age, lab work becomes mandatory prior to anesthesia.
Preanesthetic testing will:
Complete Urinalysis
A complete urinalysis (UA) helps detect and assess a wide variety of diseases as well as provide insight into the overall health status of your pet
Whether your pet is coming in for a wellness examination or sick-patient visit, a full workup including a blood screen and complete urinalysis is highly recommended. As a stand-alone test, a UA is very efficient in monitoring efficacy of treatment plans and quickly identifying side effects from some medications as well as providing overall information about the progression or regression of disease.
Urinalysis provides insights into:
Deworming
We recommend using a monthly preventative all year long. Most preventatives provide coverage against several common parasites to protect your pet. Flea and 蜱虫 are seen all year long and can cause a number of issues for your pet. Some products we care will help protect your pet against fleas, 蜱虫, certain intestinal parasites, and heartworm disease.
Vaccines
Vaccines prevent multiple diseases and help avoid costly medical treatments associated with your pet contracting one of the preventable diseases. Vaccines can help protect your pet from diseases that are carried by other animals and can help protect human's as well. Puppies and kittens need a series of vaccines to help build up their immunity and protect against certain diseases.

Preventive care visits allow you to:
- Establish and monitor individual baseline values for each patient. Performed early in life, preventive care testing provides a baseline for interpretation of data obtained at subsequent visits and can establish trends that are more specific to individual patients.
- Spot slight abnormalities in results and perform further diagnostics, if needed, in a timely manner.
- Ensure vaccines and preventives are up-to-date and provide ancillary services, as needed.
- Provide positive feedback when pet owners are doing a good job of caring for their pets and reinforce the perception that you staff are the experts on the pet's health.

Early detection, early intervention, peace of mind
We recommend preanesthetic blood work anytime a pet is going under anesthesia. As our pets reach 5 years of age, lab work becomes mandatory prior to anesthesia.
Preanesthetic testing will:
- Ensure your pet is healthy enough for anesthetic drugs.
- Identify and minimize risks to ensure rapid recovery.
- Provide a baseline for future testing.
